At Valiant’s request, I will keep a record of active members of the Society for Historical Training and Integration (hereafter referred to as “the society”).
Pendragon - Society President
Area of Interest/Specialization: Medieval courts and monarchs. Primary interest in nobility, system of feudal government, and socioeconomic intricacies of the mid to high medieval period.
Note:user(Valiant)- She lives up to her name. I try to be diplomatic but this group would have likely fallen apart without her help.
Herodotus - Society Steward
Area of Interest/Specialization: Historian, chronicler, and researcher.
Note:user(Valiant)- Don’t downplay your contributions to the group. You’ve helped find sources, solve problems, and end arguments with your ability to navigate the archives.
Valiant - Society Marshal
Area of Interest/Specialization: Longsword/German School of Fencing/Kunst des Fechtens - Variations on combat with a single longsword or sword and shield with repulsion/suspension drone integration.
Ronin - Master of Weapons
Area of Interest/Specialization: Fervently adheres to somewhat fantastic fighting styles only described in fiction dating from well after the middle ages. Practical demonstrations given show a resemblance to 剣術/Kenjutsu/Japanese swordsmanship.
Note:user(Valiant)- What even is the three sword style? I can’t believe Pendragon gave him that ridiculous title but it seems to keep him happy.
Wu
Area of Interest/Specialization: 剑客/Jian/Jianke/Taijijian - A dextrous single weapon fighting style first recorded in 7th century China. Practiced for defense training, health benefits, and meditation the true benefits to one of the People of the Forge is as of yet unknown.
Note:user(Valiant)- A very competent fighter, she always keeps me on the defensive and strikes with incredible speed and precision.
Walter
Area of Interest/Specialization: Historical accounts of magic, both fictional and factual - superstitions, divination, voodoo, scrimshaw and many others. Ritual and spiritual practices from ancient mesopotamia through the middle ages and up to puritanical depictions of witchcraft.
Note:user(Valiant)- This is the most tangential addition we’ve had, even more so than Ronin. He doesn’t even participate in field exercises but he’s Pendragon’s friend and there’s no arguing with her.
Saxon
Area of Interest/Specialization: Anglo-Saxon shieldwall incorporating spear, javelin, and handaxe. Due to the nebulous nature of warfare spanning the 5th to 11th centuries, also incorporates similar styles of the Franks, Goths, and Vikings.
Note:user(Valiant)- A solid addition but he gets too engrossed sometimes. May have to restrict him to the target range if he keeps throwing his axes so recklessly.
Bianca
Area of Interest/Specialization: Medieval archery, specializing in heavier crossbows. Has successfully recreated working replicas from available pliant materials and resin.
Note:user(Valiant)- I’ve given her one of the pulse rifles from the cache I found, but she still seems to favor that crossbow. Still, she has impeccable aim.
